Debbie Charlesworth has been appointed to the board of directors for Leadership West. She is a graduate of Class X, and is the third senior level staff member of ACB to complete the intensive program. Debbie says, "It is designed to further leadership skills, broaden community perspectives, and heighten awareness of the value of community volunteerism and professional networking in the West Valley. The program has truly been one of the best experiences of my professional life. It begins with a three-day retreat at which time you get to know your classmates and spend time team building. You then spend one day a month participating in 'issue' days. I have learned so much about our educational system, the way local government works, transportation and infrastructure issues in the Valley, varied types of cultural experiences, public safety issues, and so much more. But the best part is the relationships I have made."

She adds, "I am joining at an exciting time as we will be expanding our programs and adding to our staff."

Sarah, who serves on the board of the local chapter, says, "I am filled with both excitement and gratitude to be able to attend the 2008 EWI Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, California, in September. Making this possible was the EWI Phoenix Chapter which awards two scholarships to attend the conference to two chapter members. I am thrilled to be one of them!"

She continues, "Executive Women International is an organization that recognizes the importance and potential of an association of key women working with their executives to promote their firms and improve their community. I have been a proud member of EWI since 2005 and hope to be part of this organization for a long time to come. Attending this conference will give me an opportunity to learn even more about the EWI organization and to grow both professionally and personally, so that I can incorporate these skills into my daily routine."
